Former Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog has returned to the Philippines after nearly seven years of living abroad.
His return follows being tagged as a narco-politician during the administration of former President Rodrigo Duterte. Upon his arrival at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 at around 11:00 AM on September 10, 2024, aboard a Cathay Pacific flight from New York, Mabilog was met by operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
In an exclusive interview with Bombo Radyo, NBI Director Jaime Santiago confirmed that Mabilog voluntarily surrendered to the NBI NCR personnel.
According to Santiago, Mabilog was served a warrant of arrest for violations of RA 3019 (Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act) and the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards.
The warrant was issued at NAIA Terminal 3 by the NBI-IAID in Pasay City. Mabilog is currently in the custody of the NBI-IAID, undergoing processing. He was brought to the Sandiganbayan, where he posted bail of ₱90,000 for his temporary liberty.
Mabilog is reportedly among the invited resource persons expected at the resumption of the Quad Committee House Probe on Thursday.
